Steve Burkett has spent years behind the lens, capturing the world with intention, patience, and artistry. Even in retirement, his passion for photography has taken him across the globe. Not simply to document moments, but to thoughtfully create them. His work is far from point-and-shoot; each image is carefully envisioned, often requiring hours of waiting for the perfect light or extensive time in post-production to ensure every detail is just right.

In December 2025, Steve was diagnosed with bulbar-onset ALS, a form of ALS that primarily affects speech and swallowing. While the disease has been gradually impacting his ability to communicate, it does not touch the heart of who he is. An outgoing, deeply relational, faith-driven man who has been a leader and steady presence in his family, church, and community.

Legacy Through the Lens is more than an event, it is a way to honor Steve’s life, his work, and the impact he has had on so many, while he is here to experience it. It is a celebration of his voice, his vision, and the legacy he continues to build.
